Cut to the Chase utilizes a wooden lattice as a way to install a shutter, creating animated motion. Simultaneously, the lattice functions as a veil, covering and uncovering the installation and its backdrop. The lattice structure and the revealed installation refer to drum rhythms and written music, both sheet music, as well as music composed in computer sequence programs. A particular methodology for scripting musical notes, rhythms, intensities, and timing becomes visualized in the installation that merely occupies 60 centimeters of the depth of the entire space, rendering it seemingly empty until one passes by.
